MY SERVICES
When you work with me, you have the opportunity to foster personal strength and find authenticity with supportive, compassionate guidance tailored to your needs.
Funeral Celebrant
Together, we create a meaningful farewell for your loved one - funeral, memorial service, graveside ceremony, witnessed cremation, living wake, celebration of life - so you can focus on what matters most: honouring the deceased and making space for your grief.
End of Life Consultant
I stand alongside you and your family during life-changing transitions such as serious illness, palliative care, active dying and after death care. Experience peace of mind, knowing that my advocacy for you works towards your personalised wishes being understood, respected and fulfilled. This includes end of life paperwork such as an Advance Care Directive, and personal messages and memories you want to leave behind in an Emotional Will.
Drawing Yourself Home
Use artistic expression as a gentle tool to process deep emotions. Sessions are created according to your needs and tailored for specific circumstances, including painting your own shroud or coffin.
Writing Yourself Home
Find comfort and release through written expression. I guide you to create writing to support you emotionally. This includes poems, stories, life histories of someone you love, and personal tributes to honour your grief journey.

I'm a funeral celebrant, community development practitioner, and educator based on Jinibara Country in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Queensland.
I support people, families and communities to find meaningful, creative and connected ways to approach death, dying and grief.
As a funeral celebrant, I work with families to co-create personalised funerals, memorials and farewells that genuinely reflect the uniqueness of each life and honour the stories, relationships and values that matter most. I also offer support with end-of-life planning, helping people explore their wishes and options, as well as one-off guidance for families or friends who would like to lead a farewell ceremony themselves.
In addition to my celebrancy and end-of-life support work, I have more than twenty years' experience in community development, including recent work in paediatric palliative care. I design and facilitate conversations, workshops and community initiatives that strengthen grief literacy, build compassionate communities, and create spaces where love, loss and life can be honoured.
Whether I'm working one-on-one with individuals, collaborating with organisations, or facilitating community events, my approach is grounded in deep listening, curiosity and the belief that dying, death and grief are not only personal experiences but shared human ones. I value ceremonies and community practices that invite participation, foster connection, and help people find meaning in times of change and loss.

Compassionate Connection

I’m a daughter, wife, mum, friend, and animal lover. I know what it means to sit close to death and grief.
I was just seven years old when my dad was diagnosed with cancer. He was only 33. Thirteen years later, he died, and yet, despite his greatly deteriorated condition, his death still came as a complete shock to our family.
Looking back, there was so much we didn’t understand about death and dying. We didn’t know what to expect, or what questions to ask. We didn’t realise there were choices available to us that may have brought greater comfort, confidence, and peace. There was so much we could have done differently – not to change the outcome, but to change the experience.
Today, my greatest wish is to walk alongside people facing death — their own, a loved one’s, a beloved pet’s. To help them move through the journey with less fear and greater understanding, confidence, and connection.
I completed my professional training as an End-of-Life Doula with Preparing the Way, and to complement the support I offer, I am also a certified Energy Healer and Reiki Practitioner through the Ashati Institute.
I remain committed to ongoing learning and professional development, continually deepening my knowledge to better support and guide the people I serve.

Death Doula Service Pty Ltd

Kylie Hutchinson is the Owner of Death Doula Service. I think of birth and death as the most sacred bookends to life, and I believe the final threshold deserves to be honoured with tenderness, dignity, and compassion.
Deep, attentive listening is my gift and I can sit in presence, for you and your loved ones, during what can be the most difficult, messy, painful and devastating times, offering calm, compassionate, and holistic support.
My background in Nutritional Medicine further informs my approach, allowing me to hold a deeper understanding of the body, wellbeing, and the interconnected nature of our physical, emotional, and spiritual experiences at end of life.
I am passionate about normalising conversations around death and dying, and I wholeheartedly believe that open dialogue helps us live—and die—more fully.
Outside of this work, I am happily married and have three gorgeous free-spirited children. I hold a deep reverence for nature and find it to be a salve to my soul when life feels loud or complicated. As an avid bushwalker I am the person who stops to smell the flowers or admire a sweet little wren. Nature is my medicine!
I appreciate life’s simple pleasures – clean bedsheets, the smell of fresh bread, a comforting cuppa, or a home-cooked meal made with love. Oh, and I love deep conversations…I think most people that walk in this line of work do.

Evergrove

Evergrove is working to bring terramation to Australian death care. A carbon-neutral option that honours what our bodies have always been designed to do: return to the earth.
Terramation is a natural continuation of humanity's most ancient burial practices, adapted to be scalable and responsive to the realities of our modern world. Instead of 50 years in a grave, we're transformed into soil in just 60 days. This soil can be used to grow new life through a range of regenerative memorial options including trees, flowers and gardens. Living legacies that continue to grow, long after we’re gone.
This option isn't available in Australia yet but we're building the regulatory operating model to make it a trusted choice Australians can make. If this is the future you want, stand with us by joining our community and help show governments and regulators that Australian’s want more choice.

The Liminal Companion

I offer non‑medical, compassionate support for people and families moving through times of transition, loss, and uncertainty, including death and dying. I have been a qualified social worker since 2021, and my practice is informed by formal death doula training through Death Doula School by Kacie Gikonyo. My work is grounded in social work ethics and trauma‑informed care, with a strong commitment to ongoing learning, reflection, and professional supervision to ensure the care I offer is thoughtful, ethical, and responsive.I believe dying should not be treated as simply a medical event. It is a profoundly human experience and is relational, layered, and deeply personal. It deserves care that honours a person’s story, identity, beliefs, and choices. As a companion at life’s threshold, I offer presence without agenda, support without assumption, and advocacy where needed. My role is not to lead, fix, or impose, but to walk alongside individuals and their communities through uncertainty, tenderness, grief, and meaning‑making.I am drawn to this work because I believe that how we approach death shapes how we live. When we create space for honest conversations about mortality, we deepen our capacity for connection, courage, and compassion.
