Taboo Education is an independent business based in Perth, Western Australia, dedicated to improving how medical professionals approach death, dying, and end-of-life care. Founded by death educator Samantha Waite, Taboo Education provides psychological education, consultation, and resources to reduce death anxiety and challenge the “death is a failure” mindset often found in clinical environments.

Additionally, at the core of Taboo Education’s mission is the belief that better understanding and confronting death can positively impact emotional well-being. Death anxiety—the fear and avoidance of death—has a significant mental health impact, often leading to risk-taking behaviours, depression, anxiety, and burnout. Through our work, we encourage the development of emotional resilience and healthier coping strategies in the face of mortality, ultimately fostering better mental health outcomes for individuals and communities. Therefore, we provide presentations, workshops and individual educational consultations for schools and the general public.
