For me, Death Education isn’t an academic pursuit—it’s something led and shaped by families and communities. What I’ve come to understand is that most of us don’t truly learn about death through theory or research. We learn through being with people our own death stories. Through living.

My greatest learnings have come from sitting beside grieving families, supporting children and young people, and walking with communities through the rawness of loss. It’s been, in many ways, an apprenticeship in death care.

Outside of my work in paediatric palliative care, I host and facilitate conversations to increase death literacy. This may be through Death Cafe style conversations - both public and private. 'Death Dinners' and consultation/ support for professionals (counsellors, social workers, health care & allied health, education).
