About
Joanne Gan is an End-of-Life Doula trained by Preparing the Way. She is a volunteer doula in Singapore and Malaysia, journeying mainly with the elderly poor diagnosed with terminal illnesses. She has a special interest in caring for persons with no next-of-kin and living with mental health conditions through the “No One Dies Alone” programme at the Institute of Mental Health in Singapore.
From a management background, Joanne is currently focusing on a part-time nursing degree at the National University of Singapore while learning about living and dying matters as a hospice nurse.
Joanne is an advocate with the Green Burial Movement which promotes an alternative ecological burial method in land-scarce Singapore.
During her free time, she learns how to play the harp and tinkers around on her piano – instruments that she uses to interact with terminally ill patients.
